The wives and partners of the members of Javea 40 organise regular social and fundraising events and call themselves the ‘Dinner Ladies’. Last week they visited the Asociacion Autismo Javea and presented the Director, Rubén, with a cheque for €250 raised at one of their recent dinners.
Javea 40 and the Dinner Ladies have had a long association with the Asociacion Autismo. The WM of Javea 40 has made it his preferred charity and the Lodge and Dinner Ladies will continue with their support over the coming year.

On Sunday, June 9th, Puerto de Xàbia Lodge No 58 hosted a Summer Party at the home of the Worshipful Master, John Young.
Over 40 guests were treated to a cava reception and a sumptuous feast prepared by the Puerto de Xàbia team led by Jenny Young and assisted by chefs Peter de Graaf, Phil Gibson-Daw, and Dave Brettle.
With the sun shining and the mercury touching 30c, everyone enjoyed the warm weather, the good company, and a cold drink or two!
But the main objective of the day was to raise money for local charities. In total, from the ticket sales and a fantastic raffle for prizes donated by the members of the Lodge, a total of €1,090 was raised. As brethren in the Lodge kindly donated all the food, all the funds raised will be put towards charitable causes.
John Young, Worshipful Master of Puerto de Xàbia Lodge No 58, said “It has been a genuine pleasure for Jenny and myself to have hosted so many friends and Brethren at our home today. As well as enjoying good food and great company, I am proud that we have raised €1,090 for local Charities. Along with all of the Brethren in our Lodge, we will now decide how to distribute this money and I look forward to presenting cheques to those charities very soon. I am delighted today’s event will help less fortunate children and families in the Jávea area.”

On Sunday, 26th May, Old Tower Masonic Lodge held a charity fund-raising event billed as ‘Club Tropicana’.
The Caribbean-styled afternoon complete with surfboards and grass skirts kicked off with cocktails and entertainment provided by the fabulous ‘Project Duo’.
The Provincial Grand Master, Rodney Bignell and his Lady, Jeanette joined along with over 50 other Ladies, Gentlemen, and Brethren for a fun afternoon which included a fantastic Hawaiian-styled buffet, wonderful desserts, dancing, and refreshments.
Our special guests were Alexandru Petricean, President of Reach Out, a charity based in Torrevieja helping the homeless, hungry, and poor of the community. Alex and his senior team were welcomed by our Charity Steward, W. Bro Alan Clarke, and our PGM.
A big thank you to Mrs. Janet James for her wonderful catering skills that kept us well fed, Alan Clarke for the imagination and planning of the entire event, and the whole team for their efforts in turning Sociedad de Compass into Club Tropicana, which raised 800€ for local good causes and Masonic charities.
A FANTASTIC EVENT! was held at the Marriott Hotel & Spa on Saturday the 6th of April. It was well supported with some 80 Freemasons and Guests attending and it raised 1000€ for Charities that are supported by Freemasonry. The ‘ABBA Elite’ tribute band were terrific as was evident by the number of people dancing and cavorting, most in fancy dress.
The evening started with a Cava Reception to get everyone mingling and was followed by a five course meal, which was of excellent quality and enjoyed by all, even if there was a lot of it. Following dinner the ABBA group started their show, which was synced to a video display of the actual ABBA singing the same songs – it was really excellent and credit must go to Magnum Productions (and their Rodi’s) who set it all up, including the fantastic lights.
Photos will follow.

Arenal Deportiva Lodge No 65 Celebrate the year of the Dragon
A wonderful celebration of the Chinese New Year took place in Sabores II restaurant, Moraira on Saturday the 2nd March which was hosted by Arenal Deportiva Lodge No 65.
72 Lodge members, partners and guests, many from other lodges, attended a colourful and spectacular celebration of the Chinese New Year – the year of the Dragon!
The menu was specially chosen by Florence (the Master’s wife), which was a delightful extravagance of Chinese cuisine to suit all tastes. Many of those attending took the opportunity to dress ¨Chinese Style¨ and it all added to a very special atmosphere of fun and enjoyment. An excellent prize draw raised over 500e for the Lodge funds and this was further enhanced by 100€ from the proceeds of an auction of a superb ¨Chinese Lion¨ which Florence had spent many hours making and embroidering.
Overall, it was an excellent evening of light-hearted fun and frivolity, which brought many brethren, partners and friends together and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
