A Night to Remember: Freemasons Ladies Night shines in Denia

On October 5th, Javea 40 hosted yet another unforgettable Ladies Night at the Marriott Hotel in Denia. This glamorous evening, led by Worshipful Master Robin Tillbrook and his wife Teresa, celebrated the invaluable support of the wives and partners who play a vital role in the lodge’s success.

The event was a perfect blend of elegance and entertainment. One hundred and twenty guests were welcomed with a cava reception, accompanied by the lively rhythms of the Poco Loco Steelpan Band, setting the mood for an evening of fun and festivity. As the night progressed, the magic continued—quite literally! Magic Circle member Colin Kenward entertained with his captivating table magic, adding a touch of wonder to the dining experience. To top it all off, guests danced the night away to the vocals of Matt Mason.

In true Javea 40 spirit, the evening wasn’t just about entertainment. Over €1000 was raised for the 2026 Festival and the Javea Autism Association, a cause particularly close to Robin and Teresa’s hearts.

History of the Lodge.

The Lodge, Luz de Levante was founded and consecrated on 27th June 1987 in Alicante and was the first Lodge created under the Grand Lodge of Spain in this province. It came about from the vision and efforts of members of various obediences including the United Grand Orient of Spain, The United Grand Lodge of Germany, and Dutch-origin Freemasons.
It therefore had a strong international spirit.
in 1997, after 10 years of work & brotherhood, they decided to ‘go dark’, and the brethren transferred to other lodges, including Hiram Abif No.80.

With a new spirit, it has now renewed its legacy of fraternity, wisdom, and light and will bring much to the province.

Puerto de Xàbia – visit to Micro Brewery and Curry Night

Puerto de Xàbia 58 travel from west to east seeking curry!
The Brethren of Puerto de Xàbia Lodge No 58 enjoyed a great night out in Jávea. Starting at La Refineria Brewpub, we had the opportunity of sampling 5 different beers brewed on the premises. Although the Pilsner appeared to be a clear favourite, there were plenty of takers for the IPA – delicious!
From La Refineria, it was only a short walk to Bombay Masala, the newest Indian Restaurant in Jávea. The food was sublime and the atmosphere was buzzing!
And to top it off, a raffle raised the sum of €140 for the 2026 Festival. Good job!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water!

On Sunday 14th July, Freemasons from all over Valencia topped up their tans and braved the water to raise money for Masonic Charities.

The event was organised by Mike Tullett, Charity Steward at the Jávea 40 Lodge, and occurred at Playa de les Marines in Denia. Commenting, Mike said, “When we saw the idea of organising a Sponsored Swim, we knew that we had to take advantage of the fantastic beaches around this area.”

Mike continued, “We knew that our colleagues in Jávea 40 would support the event, but we have been overwhelmed by the attendance today and the huge sum of money pledged by Freemasons all over Valencia”.

Jávea 40 Worshipful Master Robin Tilbrook thanked all of the Lodges for their support, “We are genuinely grateful for all of the support we have had. Puerto de Xàbia 58, Arenal Deportiva 65, Oliva La Safor 112 and many others have all dug deep to make this event a great success. I thank everyone who has sponsored one of our swimmers”.

The Provincial Grandmaster of Valencia, Rodney Bignell and his lovely wife Jeanette,  and members of his Executive team also attended the event. Rodney and David Wynn showed off their sartorial elegance in very fetching vintage bathing suits and gamely joined all of our swimmers. The PGM paid tribute to the Jávea 40 effort, “I understand that, once all of the pledges have been collected, we will have raised around €2,000 for the 2026 Festival. Robin, Mike and the other members of Jávea 40 Lodge have excelled themselves today.”
