Freemason’s Lodge San Juan de Espana No. 28

A Special Evening was recently held to celebrate the end of a successful Masonic year and to thank everyone for their help and support with the special events and the Charity Fund Raising, especially over the summer months.

Many events including Crazy Golf Days and Bowls tournaments have been organised by the Worshipful Master, WBro Ian Makin and his wife Jackie. They have all been well attended, raising much needed funds for various local charities.

Restaurant Leonardo’s in Albir was completely taken over and a fabulous evening of VIP dining ensued. A generous and unexpected donation was made by the owners and staff of Leonardo’s amounting to one hundred and fifty euros for which, we are very grateful!

A Raffle where all prizes were for the Ladies and included a meal for two, chocolates, wine and even a new spatula! An exceptional amount was raised along with a lot of fun and laughter. Making a total for the evening of four hundred and fifty euros

Two Loyal toasts were made to mark the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the succession of King Charles III. These were observed by all, regardless of their country of origin.

A most enjoyable night was had, and the money raised will be put to good use to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Freemason’s Late Summer Garden Party

On the 09th September, over ninety Freemasons and their guests gathered for the Masonic Late Summer Party at Cooper’s bar in Quesada.

The evening commenced with a eulogy delivered by the Provincial Grand Master RW Bro Rodney Charles Bignall commemorating the life of our late Queen Elizabeth II, followed by a one-minute silence.

The subsequent party proved a great success, with good food, great company, and fabulous entertainment.

Cooper’s prepared a simple but excellent supper before musical entertainment was provided by Gary “Woody” Woodward (also of the famous pop group “Union Gap”) who soon had everyone up dancing to some great songs spanning the sixties onwards.

During the intermission, a grand raffle draw raised six hundred and fifty euros which will be donated to the Provincial Grand Master’s charities which are, this year, focused on the less fortunate in our Province and will assist in providing food and basic necessities to families in need.

Over the past four months, Freemasons Lodges within the Province of Valencia have raised almost ten thousand euros for food banks and children’s charities and this fund raising will continue over the months ahead.

The evening provided us with a great opportunity to meet and get together before our Autumn meetings re-commence shortly.

Caledonia Lodge Hold Hog Roast For Charity

On Saturday, 3rd September, local Freemason’s Lodge, Caledonia Lodge number 68, held a grand hog roast at the Masonic Centre, Sociedad Compas, Quesada, which was well attended by numerous Masons including the Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Rodney Bignell, and over ninety Brethren and their guests. Entertainment for the afternoon was provided by Carla Stone.

This event, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all, with Hog Roast rolls, numerous summer salads and delicious desserts was held to raise funds to support the Provincial Grand Master’s food bank charities.

The raffle was well supported, and a large Teddy Bear was auctioned at the end of the afternoon. A total of one thousand euros was raised for the Provincial Grand Master’s food bank charities.

Grateful thanks from the Elche children’s home.

Dear Mr Bignell,
I have been advised by Malcolm March of the Freemasons’ generous donation and on  behalf of the Elche Children’s Care Home charity I would like to thank them for the 500€ which they raised at the recent Golf Tournament at Bon Alba Golf Course.
The children currently have an above ground pool in the garden area which was donated many years ago and which are going to have relined this winter as it is in need of repair.   In addition, the home requested a fixed canopy to be built alongside the pool to provide shade for the children in the summer when they come out of the pool and also to be used for them to hold their fiestas and various outdoor events.   We are obtaining quotes for the canopy and your donation will now help us to achieve this goal.
Unlike other teenagers, our children are not able to go out of the home to meet their friends without supervision so they spend quite a lot of their free time within the confines of the care home, therefore facilities like this are a vital addition to their well being as they can enjoy the company of each other in a relaxed atmosphere within a safe and secure environment.
We thank you and your colleagues for helping us achieve this.

Sending you love and many thanks on behalf of the children ❤️

On Saturday, 30th July, local Freemason’s Lodge, Old Tower Lodge number 49, held a summer barbecue at Sociedad Compas, Quesada which was very well attended including the Provincial Grand Master of Valencia and more than eighty local Freemasons and their invited guests.

Two slide shows of previous events held by Old Tower Lodge were shown by our Charity Steward and entertainment was provided by Carla Stone.

This event, which was enjoyed by all, albeit the weather being a little on the warm side, was held to raise funds to support the Provincial Grand Master’s local food bank charities.

The raffle was extremely well supported and this event raised just over one thousand, one hundred euros for the food bank charities.

Local Freemasons help Amigos de la Calle

In these extremely difficult times, the Provincial Grand Master of Valencia,  Right Worshipful Brother Rodney Charles Bignell, has urged his Freemasons’ Lodges to support food banks within the Province of Valencia as much as possible.

Following recent Masonic donations of firstly, two thousand euros to the San Gabriel in Alicante and secondly, seven hundred and fifty euros to Reach Out in Torrevieja, the Provincial Grand Master decided to assist another food bank operating in the City of Valencia, this time the Amigos de la Calle.

Brother Andres, the Charity Steward from White River Lodge 153, recently visited Amigos de la Calle following a donation of one thousand euros to assist them with purchasing food and clothing for their invaluable work in helping the homeless of the City.

Starting as a group of friends to feed 70 homeless people, Amigos de la Calle now operates with 7 teams of volunteers to feed 700 people every Sunday,  gives boxes of food to 200 families with financial problems every 15 days, plus provides essential clothing.

Provincial Stewards in Lake Como raise money for Charity

The annual trip to Lake Como through the Provincial Stewards lodge, run by the Provincial Grand Master and his Lady is a wonderful experience. While you are in this beautiful part of the world, you can enjoy some of the most spectacular scenery which surrounds the magnificent lake Como.

The trip is not all relaxation and enjoyment, as at the Gala Evening which is held in the hotel restaurant, the charitable side of masonry comes into effect. The generosity of the Brethren is always amazing to see, with this year proving no different, with 790€ being raised.

Also the Provincial Grand Master had great pleasure to announce that an amount of 5000€ from the Masonic Homes of Valencia, had also been donated to the the Provincial Grand Masters Charity.

The worthy Charity that is being supported by the Provincial Grand Master is to Help the Homeless and Hungry in the Province of Valencia, with the money that has been raised on this trip will help to assist so many people.

Local Lodge Hiram Abif help the soup kitchen of Saint Gabriel

After being asked by the new Provincial Grand Master of Valencia to support four principal charities this year. Local Lodge Hiram Abif wasted no time in responding to the request.  In conjunction with the Provincial Grand Lodge of Valencia,  a  donation of two thousand euros was made to the soup kitchen of Saint Gabriel.

The Worshipful Master, Vicente Lopez Revuelta, Junior Warden, the next Worshipful Master Jorge Juan Prieto and the Hospitalario, Sergio Pereira Behm  of the Lodge attended as representatives.

The WM was received by the President of the Association Sr Antonio Moya and a member of the management team Sr Antonio Nieto.

The photo shows the sincere gratitude of this institution that carries out enormous work for the benefit of many people who are in real need in our province.

In Hiram Abif Lodge they are already planning to continue helping this soup kitchen in the future as it already has an enormous amount of work to do and which, unfortunately, we believe will increase significantly in the coming months.

Hiram Abif Lodge No 80  would also like to express their deepest gratitude for the important contribution made by our Worshipful Provincial Grand Master and the Provincial Grand Lodge of Valencia to which they are deeply proud to belong.

Freemasons help Reach Out charity.

Recently, the new Provincial Grand Master of Valencia, RW Bro Rodney Bignell, informed local Lodges of the four principal charities he wished to support this year. Further to that request, by donating to his chosen Charities, helping food banks etc.

“On 4th July local Freemason’s Lodge Old Tower number 49 were able to assist the Provincial Grand Master by distributing their donation, of seven hundred and fifty euros, in supporting food banks in the Valencia region. The Old Tower Lodge Charity Steward, carried out a food shop with “Reach Out”, one of the designated charities. “Reach Out” provide food parcels for families in need and also provide hot food and showers for the homeless. The hard work that all of the volunteers carry out, help the needy in the Torrevieja area.”
