Jávea Lodge No. 40 – A Wonderful Ladies Night Celebration

Jávea Lodge No. 40 hosted its annual Ladies Night on Friday 29th May, bringing together 100 Brethren, partners and guests for an elegant and memorable evening at Salones Carrasco in Jávea. As always, the evening was the Lodge’s way to thank our Ladies for all their support during the year.

The night began in style with a sparkling cava reception, accompanied by music from saxophonist Tania Plahay, setting a relaxed and celebratory tone for the festivities. The Worshipful Master, W. Bro. Kevin Hamilton, warmly welcomed everyone and expressed the Lodge’s appreciation for the continued support shown by families, friends and the wider community.

Guests enjoyed a beautifully prepared three‑course dinner, followed by the traditional Toast to the Ladies, delivered with charm and sincerity by W. Bro. Barry Rowe. The response, offered by Nicole Hamilton, was heartfelt and warmly received.

The evening continued with music and dancing, courtesy of The Entertainers, who kept the dance floor lively throughout. A raffle featuring fantastic prizes added to the excitement and generosity of the night.

Thanks to the kindness of all who attended, an impressive 1,500€ was raised in support of Cancer Care Jávea and the development of the Centro de Marina Alta in Ondara — two causes that make a meaningful difference in our local community.

The event was a true celebration of friendship, gratitude and charitable spirit, reflecting the very best of Jávea Lodge No. 40 and its extended family.

✈️ Four brave Masons take a big leap for the Centro de Marina Alta

L-R W. Bro. Peter de Graaf, W. Bro. Matt James, W. Bro. Bob Harris, Bro. Haakon Ellingsen

On Sunday 24th May, the quiet skies above Requena Aerodrome were shattered by adrenaline, courage and a deep sense of Masonic brotherhood as four intrepid Brethren stepped forward to do something extraordinary.

From 13,000 feet, they each took the ultimate leap — not for glory, but for charity.

🪂 The Jump Team

  • W. Bro. Matt James
  • W. Bro. Peter de Graaf
  • W. Bro. Bob Harris
  • Bro. Haakon Ellingsen

Their mission was simple in purpose but immense in spirit: to raise funds for Masonic charities, with a special focus on the Centro de Marina Alta in Ondara, the future permanent home for Freemasonry in the Marina Alta.

💛 A Remarkable Fundraising Achievement

Thanks to the generosity of Brethren, families, and supporters across the Province and beyond, the skydiving team has already raised over 3,000€ — and donations continue to come in.

This contribution will directly support the development of the new Centre, helping to create a lasting home for Masonic activity, charity, and community engagement for generations to come.

After landing safely back on solid ground, W. Bro. Matt James shared his reflections on the experience:

“Jumping from 13,000 feet was unforgettable — equal parts terrifying and exhilarating. What made it truly special was doing it as a team, knowing that every second of that freefall was helping to build something important for our Masonic future. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated and supported us. Your generosity means more than you know.”

🧭 A Day of Courage, Brotherhood and Purpose

This event showcased the very best of Freemasonry: courage, teamwork, charity, and a commitment to leaving the world better than we found it.

If you’d like to continue supporting the project, you can explore ways to contribute or learn more about the Centro de Marina Alta and its vision for the future.

A heartfelt thank you to our four skydiving Brethren — and to everyone whose generosity helped make this achievement possible.

Bridging Provinces: Caledonia Lodge No. 68 Makes Fraternal Visit to Almeria Lodge No. 74

The universal nature of Freemasonry was on full display on April 24th, 2026, as geographical borders were set aside in the name of brotherly love. A strong delegation of 13 members from Caledonia Lodge No. 68, from the Province of Valencia, made the journey to the Province of Andalusia to attend the 213th Regular Meeting of Almeria Lodge No. 74.

The meeting, held at the Masonic Temple, Hostal Rural, Turre, served as a powerful reminder that Masonic fellowship is not confined by provincial boundaries. The visiting Brethren were privileged to witness a superb Initiation Ceremony for Bro. Paul Reynolds, whose entrance into the Craft was marked by the presence of Brethren from across two different jurisdictions.

The fellowship moved from the Temple to a vibrant Festive Board, where connection were further cemented through a series of significant presentations:

  • W. Bro. Philip Wells (Worshipful Master of Caledonia 68) presented a commemorative plaque featuring the Caledonia Lodge insignia to W. Bro. William Jack Smith (Worshipful Master of Almeria 74), which was warmly received.
  • In a reciprocal gesture of Andalusian hospitality, a beautiful set of three hand-turned gavels was presented to W. Bro. Philip Wells as a lasting memento of the cross-province visit.
  • In a final, remarkable act of inter-provincial solidarity, Almeria Lodge No. 74 donated 150 Euros to Caledonia Lodge which will be used to purchase units in the name of Almeria Lodge No. 74 within Unidad Fraternal, ensuring that this visit leaves a lasting charitable legacy in the name of their Andalusian hosts.

The Brethren of Caledonia Lodge No. 68 extend their deepest gratitude toW. Bro. William Jack Smith and the Brethren of Almeria Lodge No. 74 for their exceptional hospitality and the true spirit of Masonry shown during this memorable visit.
