Peter Corrigan
A man who never tired of his masonry. Having purchased property in Spain. Peter took early retirement from his position as catering manager for Elida Gibbs and decided both he and his wife Ilsa split their time between Pinner England and Torrevieja Spain. In 1972 he was initiated into masonry in Motherland Lodge No 3861 in Great Queen St London, where he worked tirelessly through the ranks, and eventually became master of the Lodge in 1980 and again 1981. In 1985 he became Assistant Secretary until eventually becoming Director of Ceremonies of the Lodge in 1993, an office he held for many years. That same year taking great pleasure in receiving the honour of London Grand Rank. Towards the end of the nineties, Peter along with other Lodge members made several visits to a Lodge in Rome, and after reciprocal visits twelve Italian members later joined Motherland Lodge. After frequent visits to Rome he was eventually given the distinction of becoming an honoury member of that Lodge.
In 1979 he became a member of Cranbourn Chapter No 5188, meeting in Bakers Hall London, and after taking several offices, eventually obtained the distinction of P Z some nine years later.
After visiting several Lodges in the Torrevieja area during his visits to Spain. In 1994 he became one of the founding members of Las Salinas Lodge, and took pleasure in being instrumental in getting the Lodge off the ground, and was honoured by becoming the first master of the Lodge. Here he took several offices including Registrar and Chaplain, and was later awarded the office of PPGSwdB in the Province of Valencia. He was a member of Torrevieja Chapter No 15, which he attended regularly whenever he was in Spain.
In 2001 his wife Ilsa, who had always supported and encouraged him in his Masonic career, became ill and in 2003 sadly passed away, missed by the many friends she and Peter had made through masonry, both here in Torrevieja and England. This left a tremendous void in his life never to be filled. In 2010 Peter was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and although he still attended meetings regularly both in England and Spain, with the occasional trips to Italy, Peter, a true mason and a good friend to many sadly passed to the Grand Lodge above in August 2012.
