On Monday, 26 January, a significant milestone was reached for the Masonic community as works commenced on the new Marina Alta Masonic Centre in Ondara. This exciting new chapter is being spearheaded by Worshipful Brother Terry Whitehead, who, together with a dedicated team of volunteer brethren, arrived early and ready to tackle the demanding tasks ahead.
These brethren stand in the proud shadow of the original Temple Builders, taking up the same call to transform space into a place of purpose. Their work mirrors that ancient spirit of unity and craftsmanship, proving that the act of building—whether in stone or in service—remains one of the Craft’s most powerful expressions.
Led by W. Bro. Terry Whitehead, the team demonstrated commitment to their shared vision. The group gathered at the site, determined to lay the groundwork for what promises to be an impressive new home for Masonic activities in the region.
Key Works Undertaken
The first day of works was marked by substantial progress as the team rolled up their sleeves and got to work on several critical tasks:
Power washing the flat roof: The team began by thoroughly power washing the flat roof of the building, ensuring a clean and safe surface for future repairs and improvements.
Removing water damaged flooring: In a concerted effort, the team lifted a staggering 460 square metres of water-damaged laminate flooring, clearing the way for a new and improved foundation inside the centre.
Demolishing a wall: Demonstrating both strength and precision, the Brothers also demolished a 40 square metre wall, a vital step in reconfiguring the building’s layout to better serve the needs of the Masonic community.
Looking Ahead
The start of these works marks not just the physical transformation of a building, but the strengthening of bonds within the Brotherhood. As the project progresses, the dedication, hard work, and unity of those involved will continue to be the cornerstone upon which the future of the Marina Alta Masonic Centre is built.
