What Is Royal Arch Masonry?
Royal Arch Masonry is the natural and essential completion of a Master Mason’s journey. It is the first step beyond the Craft and is recognised throughout the Masonic world as the point at which a Brother gains a fuller understanding of the spiritual and philosophical lessons introduced in the Third Degree.
Often described as the “completion of the Master Mason’s Degree”, the Royal Arch explores themes of loss, rediscovery, and the search for deeper truth. Its symbolism, ritual, and teachings illuminate the Craft in a profound and enriching way, offering every Companion a broader perspective on the Masonic story.
Membership is open to all Master Masons of four weeks and upwards who seek a deeper appreciation of the Craft and wish to continue their personal Masonic development.
How the Royal Arch Fits Within Craft Masonry
The Royal Arch is formally recognised as an integral part of “pure, ancient Masonry”, together with the three Craft Degrees. It is not a separate organisation but a continuation of the same Masonic journey.
• Craft Masonry teaches the foundations: moral conduct, self‑knowledge, and the building of character.
• The Royal Arch completes this teaching by addressing the spiritual dimension of a Mason’s search for meaning.
In the Province of Valencia, Royal Arch Chapters work closely with their sponsoring Lodges. Many Brethren find that joining the Royal Arch deepens their understanding of the Craft ceremonies they already know and enhances their enjoyment of Freemasonry as a whole.
