The story so far

Artist’s impression of the new Centro de Marina Alta
In 2023, we began an important journey: to secure a permanent home for Freemasonry in the northern Costa Blanca. For many years, our Lodges have relied on rented rooms in Costa Nova, Jávea, or have moved from venue to venue—golf clubs, restaurants, social clubs —wherever space could be found.
This nomadic existence has limited our ability to grow, to serve, and to expand the charitable work that defines us. A dedicated Centre is not simply a building; it is the foundation from which we can strengthen our ceremonies, deepen our fellowship, and—most importantly—multiply the support we provide to those in need.
In 2023, the Provincial Grandmaster declared a Festival with the express purpose of changing this situation. Lodges began raising funds and a dedicated project team started searching for a suitable building. The process was long and challenging, with many setbacks along the way. Yet in October last year, perseverance paid off: we secured premises in Ondara. More than €200,000—every cent raised solely by our Brethren —made this possible.
The building, though ideal in size and location, has stood empty for many years. To transform it into a fully functioning Masonic Centre—and a hub for charitable activity across the Costa Blanca—we must now undertake extensive repairs and refurbishment.
This work started in January 2026. The key jobs to be completed are:
- Repairing and waterproofing the roof
- Repairing and insulating the suspended ceilings
- Replacing the water damaged laminate floors with tiling
- Building new walls to construct three new Temples and a Festive Board/Social area
- Installing A/C units
- Refurbishing the existing toilets to provide facilities for men, woman and less able people
- Constructing a food preparation area and bar
- Fitting out of all the new areas with the necessary equipment and furnishings
The Project team hopes to bring the new Centro de Marina Alta into use by Spring 2027.
