Just to let you know, that the Old Time Music Hall event was a total sell out, and raised 1,454€ for the Provincial festival.

San Jorge BBQ

Summer BBQ for Logia de San Jorge No165

Organised   by Mervyn and Yvonne Winder, at their home on Saturday 23rd July 2011

Mervyn and Yvonne would like to thank everyone who came to support our charity BBQ. A big thank you to those who helped to prepare by bringing extra tables and chairs and setting the games up. Yes I said games, we played SCOG (Senior Citizens Olympic Games) nothing too challenging, blow darts, archery, ball and hoop, pin the tail on the donkey etc. Everyone gets a score card and the winner with the most points wins a prize, needless to say the champion of previous years won again, 'well done Dave'.

I suspect a bit of cheating went on. During the games there was plenty of tapas some of which were donated by Reijer and Aty, they had been made by Dick of Carpe Diem, who has started an out side catering business, 'well done Dick they were delicious' enjoyed by all. After the games came the BBQ with succulent spare ribs marinated with Yvonne's special sauce, chicken, sausages and Yvonne's home made beef burgers made with her special recipe. Our daughter Vicky came through with her special recipe cheesecakes and trifles. We then had a raffle, two wonderful prizes were donated by two ladies Trudy and Sarah, the raffle raised 200.40 Euros, thank you. When everyone was full we then danced the night away to Marcus 'the Hit man' who played all of our favourite songs. A big thank you to our two barmen John and Howard who kept everyone supplied with plenty to drink. In total we raised 613.40 Euros, which will go to the Red Cross who are in need of four new ambulances.

Well done everyone and thank you, here's to next year.

The Hog provided plenty to eat and there was even a little to drink and with the weather being fairly kind to us with the rain holding off, a very enjoyable evening was had by all.

Special thanks must once again go to all the unsung heroes without who´s help the event would never have got off the ground and it wouldn´t have been the success that it was. The list is too long to mention them all individually but to all the organisers, the cleaners and washer uppers, the music man, the ladies who provided the food and those who served it, those who donated raffle prizes, those who sold the tickets and those who bought them, you all made a significant contribution and I really appreciate the support that you gave.

Whilst the aim of the evening was for everyone to enjoy themselves the fact that we also managed to add a magnificent 1477€ to the 2014 Festival pot, made it that extra bit special.

Thank you so much to everyone who attended or was involved in anyway.
